New Beginnings

As I blogged in my Tantra blog, I have been hit with Salmonella poisoning on April 30. Not food poisoning, but the incredibly rare Salmonella poisoning. We have yet to find, and I think never will, the food that caused the Salmonella to enter my body. Salmonella has handed out a caning to me that is global in its completeness, my fitness, my muscle tone, my weight have all been affected. I've even had a case of Autoimmune Arthritus in my ankles.

My diet was completely rearranged. It went from high protein and highly spiced to bland. Suddenly I could eat as much plain pasta, bread and rice as I wanted. A couple of days later we added soy milk...again in unlimited quantities. Red meat in the form of kangaroo was something my bowels didn't like at all.

I am, on this morning the 26th of May, most emphatically on the mend. My ankles are visibly less swollen and I can walk without pain. I have meditated this morning and resumed my exercise regime, albeit in a very limited form.

For a long time I have viewed myself as Samurai and it is this determination that I will take into my fight to regain my health. I will consistently push the envelope in exercise.

I intend to change my diet with a lot more leafy greens in it. Basically a Mediterranean salad of cucumber, leafy greens, chickpeas, olive oil and when in season, tomatoes. I will be overwhelmingly vegetarian in my diet.

And when I can, it will be organic and sourced locally from Farmers Markets. I am not becoming an obsessed Vegan. I will eat red meat and have the occassional wine or beer. I am however using this Salmonella as the chance it is and intend to use it to the ultimate. A lot of very happy, positive change.

Stand back and watch in awe as I pursue my new beginning.
